The Evanston Art Center (EAC) is excited to welcome the public to our upcoming exhibition by Susan Smith Trees. The exhibition will be on display from March 28 – May 3, and will have an opening reception on Friday, March 27 from 5:30 – 7:30pm, and will be free and open to the public.
SUSAN BEINER’S work explores ideas about installation, and covering an expanse of space. Installation allows her to reassemble shapes, attributes, qualities and quantities on a much larger scale suggesting an essential connection to our physical space. HIVE Expanded uses hexagonal shapes to represent a naturally occurring structure used by bees, and references how our natural environment transforms landscapes and the importance of our ecosystem.
SUSAN SMITH TREES is a sculptor who has exhibited throughout the United States for the past 25 years. She has created installations, wall reliefs and floor works in addition to pen and ink and oil drawings. Manipulation of materials are her touchstone to experimentation and the unknown.
