Arts + Public Life’s First Mondays Jazz series, now in its sixth year, is free community event featuring both emerging and established Chicago jazz artists on the first Monday of every month. First Monday Jazz takes place at the Green Line Performing Arts Center on historic Garfield Boulevard in Washington Park, a venue housed in four renovated storefront buildings that at various points in history were home to popular South Side jazz and entertainment venues, including the Rhumboogie nightclub owned by boxing great Joe Louis.
This event is free and open to the public. Building doors open at 6:30pm. Early arrival is suggested, seating inside of the E&A theater is first-come, first-served. Refreshments and snacks will be served.
March 2020 Featured Artist: Isaiah Collier and The Chosen Few
Isaiah Collier and The Chosen Few is a group founded by saxophonist Isaiah Collier. Collier who’s an alumi of the Jazz Institute of Chicago and ChiArts has been playing around the Chicagoland area for the past 4 years. Isaiah has played with a plethora of artist such as: Stefon Harris, Roy McCurty, Carmen Bradford, Ernest Dawkins, Bennie Maupin, Ari Brown, Robert Irving III and many more. Playing at festivals such The Hyde Park Jazz festival, International Jazz Day fest, Englewood Jazz Festival, and Monterey Jazz Festival. Now Isaiah has decided to gather a group of musicians “ The Chosen Few”.
