Join us for the opening reception of our next Artist-in-Residence Exhibition, “Undergrowths” presented by Alex Boersma and Shiyuan Xu. The reception will take place on Friday, February 21 from 6–8PM in our second floor gallery. Light bites and refreshments will be served! Be sure to come early for the artist talk and Q&A at 5:30PM in room Photo A.

Alex Boersma is an artist and scientific illustrator from Toronto, ON. Her current body of work expands on the tradition of natural history illustration to stage encounters with ecologies across deep time.
Shiyuan Xu is a ceramic artist from Hangzhou, P.R China. She currently works and lives in Chicago, IL. “The regular and irregular organic structures and layers grow, interact, alter, evolve and adapt as I slowly build them. I would like the viewers to experience this oddly delicate magnified world.” —Shiyuan Xu
