Stefanie Proksch-Weilguni is a doctoral student whose research focuses on feminist experimental films of the 1970s. Her dissertation is on the Austrian artist Maria Lassnig and the group of the Women/Artist/Filmmakers, Inc. in New York. The project considers how traditional art practices such as painting shaped the artists’ approach towards film.
Stefanie Proksch-Weilguni studies art history at the University of Vienna (AT) and University of Basel (CH). Her research has been supported by a dissertation fellowship of the eikones – Graduate School in Basel, the Maria Lassnig Foundation, and the Swiss National Science Foundation. Currently, she is affiliated with the School of the Art Institute Chicago and the University of Chicago.
