Originally commissioned by Fundació Mies van der Rohe Barcelona, Jaque began his project by looking in an unusual place: the basement under the landmark pavilion. This space revealed the hidden nature of the building, or the pavilion’s ghost (PHANTOM), composed of abandoned objects, building materials, and maintenance supplies that together reveal the Barcelona Pavilion as a social construction resulting from specific technological moments and civic initiatives.

This lecture is organized in collaboration with the Fundació Mies van der Rohe Barcelona and the Architecture & Design Society.
