The Vanishing City: Excavating the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893
@ Glessner House
1800 S Prairie Ave, Chicago, IL 60616
Opening Sunday, October 13th, from 4PM - 5PM
The World’s Columbian Exposition lasted for only six months before its structures “vanished.” Professor Rebecca Graff will discuss her archaeological and archival research in Jackson Park focused on the Fair’s ephemeral “White” City” and Midway Plaisance. The results revealed a robust archaeological signature ranging from the extensive sanitary infrastructure to the delicate plaster remains of the Ohio State Building.
A partner program of the Chicago Architecture Biennial.
Cost $10 per person, $8 for Glessner House members.
