Join us for a beginner’s taxidermy class taught by Nature Museum experts! You’ll receive one-on-one guidance from our Assistant Collections Manager and our Beecher Collections Lab Manager while completing a taxidermy mount of your very own rat. In this comprehensive class, you’ll learn all the basic techniques of small mammal taxidermy and about the importance of specimen taxidermy in scientific research.

All materials will be provided, and a lunch break is scheduled during the class. Your finished specimen will go home with you so you can proudly display your work for friends and family.

All specimens are sourced from our reptile feeder supplier, and are safe to use for taxidermy.

Participants under 18 years old are welcome to join us accompanied by an adult. Before registering a participant under 18 for the workshop, please email programs@naturemuseum.org.
