“Reed-Turner Woodland Botanical Artists Celebrate Silver” will be on display Sept. 4 to Sept. 29 at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., Evanston.
The opening reception will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 12 and will feature a talk about women in botanical art as well as demonstrations of silverpoint drawing and watercolor painting.
This exhibit celebrates a milestone in the contemporary revival of botanical art: the 25th anniversary of the founding of the American Society of Botanical Artists, with which the Reed-Turner group is affiliated. Affiliates and chapters throughout the U.S. and abroad are hosting events in 2019.
Reed-Turner Woodland Botanical Artists was founded in 2005 as a community of artists dedicated to the tradition and contemporary practice of botanical art. Its mission is to further the interests of botanical art, conservation science, botany and horticulture at the local level.
