For Norman, creating art is a self-indulgent activity. Beauty for beauties sake is not always fashionable in art, but pursuing it gives Norman pleasure even during times of agonizing indecision. Subject matter is important only in that it provides an armature on which to build something of beauty. He has no secrete bag of tricks. A painting is done when it feels right—when it reaches a state of harmony. Norman cannot know what elements of beauty satisfy people who see his art, but hopes some of what he feels during its making is apparent.
Norman’s art is displayed in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin. Come visit A Series of Series and stop to say hello to the artist.
