The First Nations Film and Video Festival returns to the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian for its spring festival on Thursday, May 9 at 6:00pm in the Golder Library.
The program includes short films by Native American directors. The films featured this spring will focus on the artic and subarctic regions, including the Inuit people, with such films as “Silla” by Annishinaabe director Howard Adler about the resurgence of Innu throat singing and mixing it with club music.
The shared mission of Native American first-voice is what brings the First Nations Film and Video Festival back to the Mitchell Museum time and again. FNFVF Director Ernest Whiteman III, Northern Arapaho, says, “We have seen such a growth in the programs here. Audiences are growing, seeking these films out, and that means so much to the filmmakers who share their works and voice with us.”
