New works by A. Faysal Altunbozar and Martha Poggioli Curated by Duncan Bass
The works in A Vessel, a Veil simultaneously reveal the body as an architectural space and anthropomorphize the built environment, collapsing the distinctions between interior and exterior. Excavating the material histories of internal prosthetics, Poggioli’s recent work explores the tension between containment and concealment within corporeal and societal structures. Focusing on vernacular technologies embedded in queer culture, Altunbozar’s contributions hide in plain sight, oscillating between hyper-visibility and poetic disguise. Together, these contrasting modes of abstraction insist on an uncanny intimacy between objects, bodies, and the spaces they construct.
