Writing through the Unthinkable: Spaces of Change
@ Stony Island Arts Bank
6760 S Stony Island Ave, Chicago, IL 60649
Opening Tuesday, April 2nd, from 6PM - 7PM
In partnership with 826CHI, Rebuild Foundation is proud to host Writing through the Unthinkable, an intergenerational writing workshop for writers and aspiring writers of all abilities.
This workshop will use objects curated from the Arts Bank’s Ed J Williams collection of “negrobilia” for investigations of racism from the past and present, and the act of preserving painful objects. Pulling from the long tradition of arts and literature as vehicles for protest and healing such as the Black Artist Movement and Black Lives Matter, the curriculum centers creativity as a method of understanding political issues.
This workshop is free and open to all over the age of 14 interested in a deep exploration of these topics. Families are encouraged to attend.
