1007 W Harrison St, Room 183, Chicago, IL 60607
Opening Thursday, March 14th, from 3PM - 6:30PM
Opening reception: 3:00 – 5:00PM
Curator talk & community project: 5:30 – 6:30PM
This exhibition was created to highlight students at UIC and give them a creative outlet to tell their stories. As museum and gallery spaces are changing, it was our goal to represent the community we serve while making the exhibition as accessible as possible.
The photography in the exhibition reflects the lives of the students, their accomplishments, their struggles, their Realities. The community project will allow guests the opportunity to create a piece that reflects their own realities and will be added to the wall with the rest of the work. Guests will have the option to either paint on a small canvas or mold together a colorful sculpture.
Exhibition curated by Master of Arts in Museum and Exhibition Studies Student and the GSC Exhibition Coordinator, Carlos Bossard with PhD Candidate in Disability Studies, Liz Thompson. The curator wishes to highlight that there will be audio descriptions and large text labels for folks to use.
