Catherine Hu: Very Little Changes

@ gallery no one

1579 N Milwaukee Ave, Room 303, Chicago, IL 60622

Opening Friday, March 1st, from 6 PM - 8 PM

On view through Sunday, March 31st

gallery no one is pleased to present Catherine Hu’s solo exhibition “Very Little Changes.”

“No sooner do we create a here than we have to admit a there, and it is precisely in the manipulation of these two spatial concepts that a large part of urban drama arises”

Townscape, by George Cullen

“In accentuating the split between ‘work’ and ‘home’ and proposing the latter as a place of salvation, the canon of domesticity tacitly acknowledged the capacity of modern work to desecrate the human spirit”

The Bonds of Womanhood, by Nancy F. Cott

Very Little Changes presents a bunch of objects that imitate and combine existing forms, like that of buildings, landscapes and furniture. Functioning like puns, where two meanings share one form, these hybrids attempt to exist simultaneously in places where one or the other might not be welcome, acting like a bridge between discrete ideas.
