Mar 2nd 2019

Led by artist Melissa Blount, this workshop explores the artistic legacies of Black women quilters in the South, discussing the connections between quilting, mothering, and creative work as a means of resistance. Afterwards, participants are invited to make fabric squares for a quilt commemorating incarcerated survivors of domestic violence.

Childcare will be available!

Inspired by Walker’s writing, In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens is a series of programs exploring and paying homage to Black women’s intergenerational and unconventional creative energies. Curated by Kanyinsola Anifowoshe.
