Third Estate Art: Access to Care Salon
@ The Factory Theater
1623 W Howard St, Chicago, IL 60626
Opening Saturday, February 23rd, from 7:30PM - 9:30PM
Third Estate Art is hosting a salon-style event where artists and activists will present their work on the theme “Access to Care.” Think health care, child care, mental health services, community support, and all the things we rely on to live good lives and that are increasingly hard to get.
Each participant will use 10-20 minutes to talk, read, sing, perform, or however they’d like to showcase what they do for you. The event will end with a Q&A.
Featured guests include:
Jae Green – Performance Artist
Jae will perform a piece about maternal health care in rural Alabama.
Michele Hays – Community Advocate
Michele will share her work with Back on Their Feet, which helps families avoid homelessness and connects people to essential services.
Khloe Janel – Actor, Poet, and Singer
Khloe will perform poems that explore what self-care looks and feels like in 2019 as a black queer woman.
Laura Colaneri – Democratic Socialists of America Representative
Laura will discuss her work with the DSA on women’s health care, including pregnancy crisis centers, reproductive justice, and Medicare for all.
Tickets are pay-what-you-can, and we have a limited number of free tickets available. Third Estate Art is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, so consider paying a little more if you can. All ticket sales go to recouping our venue costs and paying the artists/and presenters.
