Stay Safe Party
@ Hyde Park Art Center
5020 S Cornell Ave, Chicago, IL 60615
Opening Sunday, February 10th, from 1PM - 5PM
Join artist Aram Han Sifuentes and friends in uplifting safety, power, and freedom for all with music and art marking activities. DJ Sadie Woods will be playing tunes to uplift our spirits while William Estrada and Sifuentes will be on site to help you screen print radical messages to authorities and neighbors.
*Participants are invited to bring light colored clothing and totes.
Estrada and Sifuentes will have stencils to print on takeaways utilizing language and proclaiming messages of basic constitutional rights that ALL PEOPLE living in the United States have, regardless of immigration status, that can be used for protection if authorities show up at their homes, such as police or I.C.E. In doing so, Sifuentes hopes to create soft barriers into safe shelter through words and pronouncements of our civil rights on everyday objects.
We will have supplies on hand for t-shirts and posters, but please feel free to bring a shirt or tote or poster of your own to screen print!
This program is part of the exhibition Aram Han Sifuentes: To Ward Off Authorities and To Protect My Neighbors. The Hyde Park Art Center and the artists in this event believe every human being is legal and has the right to safety.
This event is FREE, for all ages and family friendly.
