Dec 1st 2018

In early 2018, Sixty Inches From Center and the Chicago Archives + Artists Project (CA+AP) invited artists Ivan Lozano, H. Melt, and Aay Preston-Myint to create new works inspired by materials found in the archival collections of Media Burn Independent Video Archive, the Chicago Protest Collection at the Newberry Library, and the collections of the Leather Archives & Museum.

This exhibition will reveal the commissioned projects by each artist alongside the archive materials that inspired them, launching CA+AP’s first year-long collaboration between artists and archives across the city.

Remarks by the artists and archivists will happen at 6:30pm and a tour of the Leather Archives + Museum with Archivist and Collections Librarian Mel Leverich will start at 7pm. Tunes will be provided by Sasha NoDisco.

This event is free and open to the public–RSVP is encouraged but not required. 18+ only.

This is made possible with support from the Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation and additional support from Catherine Grandgeorge at Newberry Library, Sara Chapman at Media Burn, and Mel Leverich at the Leather Archives & Museum.
