Opening Wednesday, October 31st, at 7:15PM
On view through Sunday, December 30th
In the spirit of Chicago’s great legacy of public art and culture, Art on theMART is the largest digital art projection in the world. The first-of-its-kind for Chicago, projected across 2.5 acres (two football fields) of theMART’s exterior river-façade, this contemporary art projection adds to the city’s vibrant public art scene. The installation includes four contemporary digital artworks by artist Diana Thater, Zheng Chongbin, Jason Salavon and Jan Tichy, each using 34 projectors to illuminate the façade of theMART. This ongoing series of curated projection programs is displayed two hours a night (7 – 9pm), five days a week (Wednesday – Sunday), for ten months of the year (March – December). The projections will be temporarily unavailable from November 7-11, returning on Nov. 14. The City of Chicago and theMART are working in partnership to manage and curate the projected artwork and have a thirty-year agreement to facilitate the project.
