All the World Is Here
@ Newberry Library
60 W Walton St, Chicago, IL 60610
Opening Saturday, October 13th, from 10AM - 11PM
On view through Monday, October 1st
In 1893, people from all over the world came to Chicago for the World’s Columbian Exposition—the World’s Fair! Join in a unique interactive melange of music and story activities that will bring to life the Fair and the wonderful mix of cultures it fostered, with selections from children’s books including The Mouse with Wheels in His Head, Whoever You Are, Waiting for the Biblioburro, Drawn Together, and The Librarian of Basra.
This event is designed for children from kindergarten through third grade and will be led by the Lucky Trikes storytelling chamber band, including Deirdre Harrison and Kyle Price, as well as musicians from Chicago’s thriving music scene.
The event is also part of our programming in connection with the exhibition Pictures from an Exposition: Visualizing the 1893 World’s Fair. See it from September 28 to December 31, 2018, at the Newberry.
