Conversations en Community: 50th Year Commemoration of the Peace Mural

Come to the Museum at 6pm to stimulate your mind and connect with your community. Join us for a series of conversations around the exhibition Arte Diseño Xicágo.

Join us as we celebrate the first Chicano/Mexican-American community mural in the U.S. Painted by Mario Castillo in the summer of 1968, this earliest mural launched a public art movement from the Pilsen neighborhood. Joining us for this discussion will be Mario Castillo, arts journalist Jeff Huebner, and Chicago’s Commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Mark Kelly.
