Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum is pleased to present Hidden Worlds, a solo exhibition of paintings and etchings by Renee Robbins. The work considers the complex relationships between humans and nature. The artist’s layering of numerous extraordinary worlds—often hidden from view—encourages viewers to take a closer look. The show features a collection of five related series: Sea Change, Wunderkammer, Biota, The Love Letter Etchings & Galactic Lagoons.
About the Artist: Renee Robbins is a Chicago-based visual artist who layers biomorphic forms to create detailed otherworldly environments. She has been awarded public art commissions with the Chicago Public Art Group, Wabash Arts Corridor, and Illinois’ Art-In-Architecture Program. She has exhibited widely, including exhibitions at Lois Lambert Gallery, Santa Monica, CA; Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Batavia, IL; Firecat Projects, Chicago, IL; and the Alden B Dow Museum of Science and Art, Midland, MI. Robbins received her MFA from Michigan State University and has been working in Chicago for over a decade.
All events are free with RSVP. Please email renee@reneerobbins.com with event date and number of guests.
Please consider taking public transit or a cab to visit museum. Parking is limited and may be 1-2 miles away as it’s near the Lake Michigan beach and very busy this time of year. The Nature Museum does not have a parking lot. There is a lot at the Lincoln Park Zoo that may have open parking spaces.
About the Museum: Founded in 1857, the Chicago Academy of Sciences is one of America’s oldest scientific institutions. Our scientific collections have been built since that time and have been used to help define human understanding of nature, ecology, and the diversity of life in the United States.
