Hops & Gold: The Chicago Gilders Brewery Sign Exhibition, is a showcase of the distinct characteristics of two handmade trades, gilding and brewing. By focusing on the the long held relationship between sign makers and brewers, Hops & Gold highlights the tradition of gold leaf signs in breweries throughout the Midwest at the turn of the twentieth century and today. The relationship between sign maker and brewer is seen throughout Chicago and as sign artists maintaining the craft of gold leaf, our continued relationship with the local brewery scene is of utmost importance and a source of ongoing production and creativity.
Gilded signs will be shown by Chicago gold leaf artists; Robert Frese of Chicagold Signs, Sean Michael Felix of Illumination Art and Design, Kelsey Dalton McClellan and Andrew McClellan of Heart & Bone Signs, Ches Perry of Rightway Signs and Jerry Chingas.
Please join us on June 8th, 2018 at Ugly Step Sister Gallery in Pilsen, Chicago. The show opens at 6pm and beer will be provided with suggested donation. Special thanks to our Supporters: W&B Gold Leaf, Finch Beer Co., Goose Island Beer Co., Rock Island Public House and Alulu Brewery and Pub.
