Crystal Lattice
@ ADDS DONNA
3252 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647
Opening Friday, May 11th, from 6PM - 10PM
On view through Saturday, May 12th
A lattice is a structure characterized by its strength and security. Multiple adjacent units bind together through energetic ties to form a foundation. It can manifest as a diamond, table salt, a garden trellis, or the advanced fiber studio space. Crystal Lattice, Living Stone is a show characterized by fourteen artists who have learned from each other’s experiences to form bonds of the same nature. Work of varying material and digital mediums showcases the group’s thematic concerns of identity, territory, socio-political structures, and authenticity. Seemingly disparate narratives are brought together to spark new inquiry into what it means to be a fiber artist today. We invite you to parse out these ties, and explore what we have made this semester.
