It’s that time of year when plants head toward the sun, and Lincoln Square Pottery Studio – Learning Center students bring out their Spring creations! Mark your calendars for the studio’s 15th Anniversary Sale & Show on April 28th, from 6-10pm.
All winter, our students have been diligently honing their craft, be it on the pottery wheel or hand building with clay slabs. Both beginning and established artists take pride in presenting new works during this event, and this year will feature an extra table’s worth of cups, bowls, lanterns, jewelry and sculpture to look over and purchase. Our students and their creations take precedent at this show, but we’d be remised if we didn’t mention all the other activities that make this event so memorable! Our Buy-A-Cup benefit gives attendees the opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind artisan mug, which they can fill with delicious libations while supporting the studio! Hors d’oeuvres are served throughout the evening, along with great conversation. Our featured event is the ever-hilarious “Pottery Competition”, in which students and staff perform in silly ceramics tasks for the audience. Past years have seen such competitions as “largest vessel thrown on the wheel in under five minutes”, “wearable clay slab hats” and “longest rolled clay coil”!
With work by: Meg Biddle, Emilie Bouvet-Boisclair, Christopher Whittington, Nancy VanKanegan, Mickey Nuccio, Mieke Zuiderweg, Sharron Pierce, Mike Sebanc, Angela Venarchik, Anneliese Moy, Alice Hollowed, Rich Zimmerman, Rosalind Morris, Paul Schultz, Mindy Stillman, Ann Cibulskis, Morgan Bates, Kathleen Kane, Delilah Zak, Marie Wojinski, Eliana Sigal, Kelli Blanchard, Rita Yamin, Patty Spyrakos, Linsdey Moore, Chris Edwards, Hillary Simmons
Spring in Chicago always gets the locals restless- they love a good art fair, and LSPS-LC is well known for its ceramics bash. Stop by and spend a wonderful evening with us AND help support the Arts at the same time! Open to the public, no admission.
