Featuring works by Jo Geczy, Madeline Horvath, Sean Leftwich, and Lauren Sullivan, comfort Zone takes as its starting point a material navigation of the visceral or bodily. Mingling sensations of seduction and repulsion, we find an opening up of space for the almost–comfortable, the not–quite–familiar; a space at once next to, and at arms length from, the environments recognizable to us. Here, the works of painting and sculpture propose to disrupt identification that is easy, ‘natural’, or habitual, and instead attend to dwelling on uneven ground.
