gallery no one is pleased to present exhibition Three Thoughts. Having taken its title from the diverse backgrounds of the three featured photographers, Chilli Chen, R.Clarke-Davis and Masao Yamamoto, the exhibition, Three Thoughts, maps out a journey of their intimate involvement with the world. With their respective method of interpretation, each photographer gives a surrealist representation of the visual reality that decontextualizes the subjects seen from their lens.
Concomitant with the idea that photographs give people imaginary possessions of the past, they could also allude to their separation from the real life. Chilli Chen uses cell phone cameras to explore and experiment with her spontaneous execution; R.Clarke-Davis presents specifics of daily life that is at times revelatory and personal; with their small formats, Masao Yamamoto carries the photographs in his pockets, deliberately creating worn edges on the photographs on which time has left its imprint.
Characterized by softness and subtlety, their works convey a sense of abstraction and isolation from the visual reality. By presenting a selection of their works, and offering viewers different ways of seeing, the exhibition aims to shape attainable characters of contemporary photography.
