Beauty Breaks: Re/use Re/fuse
@ F4F
2846 W 21st St, Chicago, IL 60623
Opening Sunday, January 7th, from 2PM - 5PM
Our First Session of the year will be Beauty Breaks: “Re-use Re-fuse” at F4F (2846 W 21st St)which will feature a workshop by Jennifer Chukwu!
Jennifer’s practice utilizes materials that some may consider commonplace. Participants are encouraged to bring things like household cleaning supplies, makeup and other random home goods to make art with. In this workshop, you will explore how text and image interact with one another. Through sentence poetry and your drawings, we will explore the spaces that exist between you, words, and images.
We are gonna write sentences, doddle, and use what we find to talk about our identities as marginalized folks. The only materials we are using are paper, pen, and pencil. By coming together and using the resources that we have, we are reminding ourselves that in this era of hate and isms, we can keep providing spaces that are our sanctuaries.
We will combine Jennifer’s workshop with a clothing/object swap. You are encouraged to bring an object that you value but no longer need, to swap with other attendees!
Please join us for tea, snacks and chat at 2pm – The session begins at 3pm.
–
This session will be an affinity space for black-identified people. We ask our allies to refrain from attending.(All ticketing is through eventbrite as a suggested donation. Your contributions will support the efforts of Jennifer Chukwu and the continuation of Beauty Breaks.)
