SHOW OFF: People Who Collect is a unique exhibition featuring artworks and objects collected by Gary and Chicago artists, cultural workers, entrepreneurs and gallerists. SHOW OFF will be the first of a series of exhibits presenting artworks on loan from private collections in public settings. Each collector will select artworks and objects for display – each, representing their own personal aesthetic, personal taste and artist(s) of interest.
Artworks and objects on loan by Lauren M. Pacheco, Peter Lemke, Pedro Soto, Jr., Aron Packer, and Billy Craven. Artists, makers and designers to be displayed include: Juan Angel Chavez, Steven Lockwood, David Rowland, Ron Copeland, Cleon Peterson, Curtis Jere (C. Jere), Wesley Willis, Ray Noland, Matthew Hoffman (‘You Are Beautiful’), Tom Billings, Shane Swank, among others.
This exhibition is being hosted by the Miller Beach Arts & Creative District who receives generous support by the Indiana Arts Commission and the Legacy Foundation of Northwest Indiana. Argus Brewery located in the Pullman community of Chicago and John Freyer have also donated select beverages for the opening reception.
The Miller Beach Arts & Creative District strives to be a dynamic hub of creative cultural and economic activity that transforms the unique community and environment of Miller into a vital part of the city of Gary and the surrounding region.
