DESCRIPCIÓN DEL MURAL

Florecer en la Eternidad

Florecer en la Eternidad es la tercera intervención de la serie 2017 de murales en Caracol. Su autor, Miguel Angel López, es un artista nacido en Mexico que llegó a Chicago a los doce años de edad. Miguel recuerda que empezó a dibujar en serio para “sacar la rabia que llevaba adentro.”

En cada extremo de la espiral aparece un cráneo estilizado con la boca entreabierta por donde emana o se captura el aliento, sugiriendo así un ciclo perpetuo de creación y destrucción. En el espacio que comprenden estos dos extremos se representa el ciclo de vida de una flor, desde su brote inicial hasta su madurez cuando produce semillas que una vez más iniciarán el círculo. Estos elementos gráficos están plasmados sobre una superficie de intensos colores lograda con capas de rosa mexicano, azul cobalto, y violeta.

Florecer en la Eternidad simboliza el breve ciclo que los seres vivos experimentamos en la tierra a la vez que enmarca esta existencia efímera dentro de un fenómeno más grande que no tiene principio ni final.

Blossoming in Eternity

Blossoming in Eternity is the third intervention of the 2017 series of murals at Caracol. It was created by Miguel Angel López, an artist born in Mexico who arrived in Chicago at the age of twelve. Miguel remembers that he began to draw seriously to “get out the rage inside.”

At each end of the spiral appears a stylized skull with the mouth ajar through which breath emanates or is captured, thus suggesting a perpetual cycle of creation and destruction. The space between these two extremes represents the life cycle of a flower, from its initial bud to maturity when it produces seeds that will once again start the circle. These graphic elements are shaped on a surface of intense colors achieved with layers of fuscia, cobalt blue, and violet.

Blossoming in Eternity symbolizes the brief cycle that living beings experience on earth while framing this ephemeral existence within a larger phenomenon that has no beginning or end.
