Christopher Harris gives an artist talk on Oct. 10 at 6PM as part of the Voices series at Gallery 400.
Christopher Harris’s award-winning experimental films include a look at a post-industrial urban landscape, an optically printed and hand-processed film about Black outlaws, a pinhole film about the cosmic consequences of the sun’s collapse, a macro lens close up of a child’s nightlight, and a double projection film about a theme park performance of Christ’s Passion.
Known for his 16mm experimental films and HD video installations, Harris’ work has been exhibited widely at venues throughout North America and Europe including solo screenings at Microscope Gallery in Brooklyn, Autograph ABP in London, the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and group exhibitions at the SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, Wexner Center for the Arts, the Artists’ Film Biennial at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and festivals including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), the VIENNALE-Vienna International Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival, among many others. Harris is the recipient of a Creative Capital grant and an Alpert/MacDowell Fellowship. He is the Head of Film and Video Production in University of Iowa Department of Cinematic Arts).
