On view through Sunday, September 17th
The 16th annual Ravenswood ArtWalk (RAW), co-presented by the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, Ravenswood Community Council and sponsor Access Contemporary Music, showcases Ravenswood’s diverse and vibrant community of makers while celebrating the intersection between arts and industry. Reinforcing Ravenswood’s transformation from a manufacturing district to a hub for creative industry, the Ravenswood ArtWalk (RAW) takes place along the historic mile-long Ravenswood Ave industrial corridor, from Irving Park Road to Leland Avenue, Saturday – Sunday, September 16 – 17 from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
New to this year’s festival is a BLOOM street art installation by Ravenswood-based artist Dana Parisi, expanded indoor artist markets with new locations at Beyond Design and Dovetail Brewery, and a “Bike To RAW” music meetup and bike parade, starting at Turin Bicycles, led by the youth folk band Young Stracke All-Stars which consists of student musicians ages 8-14.
Additional highlights of the weekend include free mini dance classes from Ballroom Dance Chicago and the 3rd annual 60 Second Film Festival presented by Big Teeth Productions and a rare glimpse inside the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum private archives of rare and extinct animal specimens from across the Midwest. The outdoor RAW Street Fest returns to host the Begyle Brewing urban craft beer garden, two stages for live music, a food truck roundup and children’s corner for family-friendly entertainment and activities. In all, more than 300 artists will display their work across 40+ indoor studios and outdoor exhibits, featuring works by local watercolor artists, photographers, jewelry makers, sculptors, glass blowers and much more.
