Based on extensive research in Cuba and US archives, Terence Gower’s Havana Case Study uses American diplomatic architecture as a lens through which to explore US international relations. Comprising models, photographs, collages, and archival documents, the exhibition centers on the history of the US embassy in Havana. On the Neubauer Collegium’s terrace, a monumental sculpture presents a 1:1 scale outline of the ambassador’s balcony, a potent symbol of diplomatic stalemate and its political and economic fallout. The show, which runs through December 15, 2017, will open on the evening of September 12 with a reception in the Neubauer Collegium Gallery (6:00-9:00 pm) and a discussion with the artist (7:00 pm).
