Kill the Messenger
@ Gallery19
4839 N. Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60625
Opening Friday, August 4th, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Thursday, August 31st
Gallery19 is pleased to announce our summer exhibition titled “Kill the Messenger”, a group show featuring the eight finalists from our first juried photography competition.
Artists Lars Anderson, Marcus DeSieno, Rebecca Drolen, Barbara Kyne, Frances Melhop, Jackson Patterson, Jake Platt and David Sutton all took on the competition’s theme of “Kill the Messenger”. The work examines the truths of our current global circumstance: isolationism and the fomenting uncertainty of fear. Their task was to create a visual vocabulary that defined their engagement with the world around them.
The Gallery is honored to have had Jennifer Murray, the Executive Director of Filter Photo, judge the many applicants. Murray will announce the winner of this year’s Meed1 Photo Competition during the opening reception of “Kill the Messenger.” The winner will receive a solo show at Gallery19 in 2018, along with a full year of mentorship with Murray.
Join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 4th from 6-9pm. The show runs through August 31st, 2017.
