The artist’s neurotic slogan undermines itself, it’s too on the nose…. is it irony? Paintings made of bed sheets, carpet, tacky house paint, and silicon caulk. Or is this a kind of sincerity through blue collar material and self-deprecating humor. Eschewing taste and refinement, for a failed attempt. A weird humility. Thumbs up or thumbs down, this is what I got. Banana traffic cones… A down-to-earth jokey show that blends painting and installation, mixing emojis and art cannon. Don’t take your self too seriously. Just try.
Born 1987. Eric Stefanski is an artist that lives and works in Chicago, IL. He holds a BS from DePaul University, attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and holds a MFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts. He has exhibited widely throughout the United States and his work is held in numerous public and private collections.
