If it feels good, design it. This exhibition aims to highlight the importance of emotional response in the effectiveness of design. Design that is purely utilitarian doesn’t reflect human tendencies to draw towards objects that feel personal and relatable… What are the factors that go into selecting which objects we use and which objects we love? Do these decisions go beyond function, and enter the realm of emotion? How can one evoke excitement, attachment, memory, and other characteristics of emotional cognition within design? In this group exhibition, “If It Feels Good…,” our goal is to present objects to the public which embody a balance of aesthetics and utility.
Touch is also an important aspect of this exhibition because of the sensory and emotional feedback one receives when they feel an object. Because of this we invite the audience to explore and examine the objects within this exhibition. We hope that people will be motivated to carefully interact with these designs and explore their emotional responses through visual and tactile investigation.
