May 6th 2017

Chicago Zine Fest continues Saturday May 6th from 11am-6pm with an exhibition of over 250 self-publishers at Plumbers Union Hall 1340 W Washington Blvd. Buy and trade zines and comics from exhibitors from Chicago and around the country. Along with the exhibition will be hands-on activities for all ages provided by Busy Beaver Button Company, The Wasteshed and Spudnik Press. There will be a photobooth by Glitter Guts, coffee by HalfWit coffee roaster, a hair styling station, food trucks, and more! Free parking available in the Plumbers Union Hall parking lot.

Zine Fest engages the community through a selection workshops held during the expo. We are pleased to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Chicago’s Quimby’s bookstore with the discussion Ever Evolving Bastion of Freakdom, a retrospection of the bookstore featuring a discussion with store founder Steven Svymbersky, store manager Liz Mason, and special guests. Other workshops include a Youth Reading from elementary and high school students from around the city, DIY printing tutorials, and drawing exercises.

Sponsors of the 2017 festival include Chicago Publishers Resource Center, Quimby’s Bookstore, The University of Chicago Library, LUMPEN radio, and Perfectly Acceptable Press. CZF 2017 artwork was created by Chicago illustrator Mike Centeno.
