Apr 21st 2017

Please join Rockford University in welcoming Sara Willadsen during the public reception for her solo exhibition, LESS GLOOM, from 5-9pm on Friday, April 21.

This reception is part of Rockford ArtScene, a Rockford area arts event running 5-9pm April 21 and 4-9pm April 22.

The work of Sara Willadsen is an investigation of formal art elements and the artistic process. She combines traditional art media, such as paint, ink, graphite, and colored pencil, with found materials, and creates layers of depth both physically and aesthetically. Willadsen often appropriates her own work by employing past patterns and marks to create new structures and environments. While Willadsen’s found objects balance the mark of the hand, she occasionally utilizes digital fabrication technology to manipulate paper and add rigidity and organization to her otherwise surreal abstractions.
