Reality is Not Good Enough
@ Chicago Cultural Center
78 E Washington St, Chicago, IL
Opening Sunday, April 23rd, from 3PM - 6PM
Join us on a rare Sunday afternoon for the screening of Reality is Not Good Enough, a film by Rashayla Marie Brown!
An emerging filmmaker tries to make a film subverting racial and gender stereotypes about reality television using her family as a subject. Instead, she ends up questioning her relationships, the stability of her mother to withstand the project, and the challenges of independent filmmaking in general. The film contains footage from a variety of different perspectives and cameras, with an experimental editing style, showing the intimacy and frustration between the camera operators and the family.
#RealityIsNotGoodEnough will be preceded by selections from Rashayla’s past video work and an exclusive sneak peek of “Signature Move” starring and written by Fawzia Mirza and directed by Jennifer Reeder. Jennifer will be in attendance for a Q&A!
Starring:
Rashayla Marie Brown (Director)
Ann-Marie Hammond (Mother)
Abrina Marie Matthews (Sister)
Angell Marie Williams (Sister)
Bailey Marie Brown (Niece)
