Elizabeth Smarz: Mirrors
@ Slate Arts and Performance
3203 W. North Ave, Chicago, IL 60651
Opening Friday, April 14th, from 7PM - 10PM
Join us for the opening reception for Elizabeth Smarz’s exhibition Mirrors.
Statement:
Mirrors is a culmination of inward exploration and self-reflection. Each of the paintings’ existences are reified as abstracted reflections on individual moments of creation and as a part of a series, a collective. The idea of self-reflection is shown through a seemingly symmetrical fold centering the observer, while the circular scale provokes a sense of everlasting expansiveness. The symmetrical and abstract nature of Mirrors appeal to underlying psyches personal to an individual, asking the viewer to see, consider, and reflect.
