The 1st year MFA Doc Media cohort cordially intive you to the public screening of our second quarter films, produced in Professor Kyle Henry’s RTVF-552 (Narrative Techniques) course. Inspired by archival sources such as newspaper articles, artworks, or photos, we created a broad spectrum of movies from narrative to experimental films (and of course, documentaries).
There will be a Q&A session with the directors followed by the end of the screening.
Screening Order:
1. Young Companion – Dir. Yu Bai
Two expats separated by time and space are connected through photography.
2. As We Know It – Dir. Joyy Norris
A recollection in progress.
3. WK -Dir. Evan Wang
A tribute to South African artist William Kentridge that explores the necessity of storytelling in spite of differences in time and space.
4. ELIZA – Dir Sandeep Pamulapati & Pam Austin
An introduction to ELIZA, an early natural language processing computer program.
5. Grades and Pills – Dir. Kyeong Bok (KB) Lee
A student overloaded with academic pressure plans to cheat for the final exam and faces tragic consequences.

Two students struggle to find their place on a PWI in 1968.
7. The New Immediacy- Dir. Peter Franco
A recapitulation of the erratic conversation that ensued when three incompatible academics were brought together by Northwestern students in 1967 for a symposium on the topic immediacy in the media.

A monk discusses the significance of artful watching.
