“I’m viewing resiliency not as merely therapeutic but as a profound and substantive accomplishment. How do people enjoy, how do they sublimate, how do people adapt their life, their personal environment, their behavior in order to to survive and thrive? How do people transform reality to make it sustainable for them? This project will be a collection of faith, rituals, inventions and of people dealing with how to be alive today.”

Join us for a presentation by our current visiting resident, Justine Pluvinage, who is currently exploring the theme of resiliency to make a site-specific video installation for the Hyde Park Art Center facade. She is one half of our residency exchange with the Centre régional de la photographie Nord—Pas-de-Calais (CRP) located in the North of France.

Pluvinage will discuss her video and film work that often adopts the documentary format, portraying intimate relationships among people and oscillates between realistic and dreamlike states, between observed time and narration.
