Power Project: Planning Meeting #2
@ Threewalls
2738 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647
Opening Thursday, March 30th, from 7PM - 9PM
All are welcome to join Comfort Station and the Arts Leaders of Color Network (ALCN) on Thursday March 30th for the second planning session for The P.o.w.e.r Project (happening June 2017).
Through a series of facilitated small and large group discussions, the goal of this meeting will be to identify what issues and ideas the project’s programming should address, and to brainstorm creative ways to implement them. The organizers of the project will also give a brief, updated overview of the structure of the programming process and how people can be involved after this meeting.
Participants in this meeting are free to join this discussion with no future commitment to the project, but those who are interested in being directly involved with future steps will be welcomed and encouraged to sign up for specific roles and duties to help bring this to fruition.
The P.o.w.e.r. Project Project
(Preparation, Organization, Wonderment, Empowerment, Resistance)
The Comfort Station and the Arts Leaders of Color Network (ALCN) join forces to present the P.o.w.e.r Project over the course of the month of June 2017. In lieu their traditional arts programming, the Comfort Station will be transformed into an ‘empowerment hub’ where people can come together to build capacity, community, and the skills to combat the wave of intolerance that is washing over our country and the world at large. Throughout the month there will be a series of lectures, discussions, happenings, self-care exercises, and much more led by artists and members from the community. The hope is that through series of engagements, people will be able to not only to lead their own actions but inspire others to take a stand against ignorance and intolerance. The only way we can make it through these uncertain times is to do it together.
