Through story and song, attendees will learn about Phyllis Wheatley, a well known poet; Sojourner Truth, an abolitionist and women’s rights activist; Harriet Tubman, a slave who led others to freedom along the Underground Railroad; Gwendolyn Brooks, a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for poetry; as well as the wife of Crispus Attucks, whose story recounts how her husband died during the Boston massacre.
