Explore new ways of constructing music and performing for live audiences at Choir Rehearsal. Choir members will be asked to do things that are slightly unorthodox relative to other gospel or community choirs.

Under the leadership of Theaster Gates, Yaw Agyeman and Mikel Patrick Avery, this Choir promises to create new ways of considering black performance and contemporary art.

We are seeking instrumentalists, poets, singers, researchers and a DJ to participate in the creation of two albums. In return, choir members will receive copies of the albums produced, food and hydration, paid external performance opportunities, possible solo opportunities on the albums, and increased knowledge of conceptual practices.
