Hispanic Heritage Month: Closing Reception
@ A Shot of Art at Perkolator
6032 W Irving Park Rd., Chicago, IL
Opening Sunday, October 16th, from 2PM - 4PM
On view through Sunday, October 16th
Last chance to see the art and meet the artists featured in the Hispanic Heritage Month exhibition: Mitchell Lara, Laura Neira, Henriqueta Martinez and Erika Doyle.
Mitchell Lara is a Chicago born multimedia artist who has documented self discovery and self-rejuvenation for over three decades while casting aside the common stereotypes of artists.
Henriqueta “Henri” Martinez was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Her work is a mix of reality and fantasy, evoking elements and colors from her background. She creates her work by hand before transforming them digitally.
Laura Niera is a multimedia artist, working in paint as well as pastry. Her paintings refer the votivelike paintings that many people buy in order to make wishes come true.
Erika Doyle has been painting since the age of fifteen, but events in the late 90s put this activity on hold. She emigrated from Argentina in 2000, settling here with her family. It was not until the end of 2013, after finishing grad school and visiting her home country, that the spark of inspiration to paint suddenly returned.
