Count Me In Premiere Screening
@ Chicago Cultural Center
78 E Washington St, Chicago, IL 60602
Opening Saturday, October 15th, from 2PM - 4:30PM
At a time when voter frustration is mounting, there’s finally a good news story about money and voting: Count Me In (http://www.countmeinmovie.com/), highlights an innovative experiment in direct democracy that gives ordinary Chicagoans direct say over local public projects and monies. Pioneered in Chicago, participatory budgeting is rapidly spreading across the country and even the White House recently made it one of its key recommendations for open government.
Join Ines Sommer as she premieres the first documentary on participatory budgeting in the United States. Sponsored by WTTW – Chicago PBS, Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Great Cities Institute at UIC. Following the film there will be a discussion with the filmmaker, community leaders and documentary subjects.
