Create dance with Brooklyn-based Brother(hood) Dance! This month’s featured artists Orlando Zane Hunter, Jr. and Ricarrdo Valentine use movement to explore race, gender and social justice.
Open Dances is a year long dance forum, curated by Rebuild’s choreographer-in-residence Barak adé Soleil; offering opportunities to build community and explore movement with all ages.
Brother(Hood) Dance! is the interdisciplinary duo of Brooklynbased artists Orlando Zane Hunter, Jr. and Ricarrdo Valentine. Informed by aesthetics drawn from the African diaspora, they research, create and perform dances of freedom. Established in 2014, Brother(Hood) Dance! has traveled throughout the country and internationally with their powerful creative work that seeks to inform audiences of the current sociopolitical and environmental injustices from a global perspective; bringing clarity to the same gender loving African American experience in the 21st century.
