JUNGLE BOOGIE: A neoteric exhibition featuring contemporary artwork by Ben Tinsley and vintage paintings by Walter Fydryck
Matthew Rachman Gallery is pleased to announce it’s upcoming exhibition, “Jungle Boogie,” featuring abstract works by Chicago artists Ben Tinsley and Walter Fydryck. The gallery will host an opening reception Saturday, May 21 from 6 – 9 pm, at which both artists will be in attendance.
“Jungle Boogie” is a carefully curated collection of artwork that is saturated with a rhythm, funk, and soul that embraces color and celebrates life. It’s a visual interpretation of those moments when the sun is almost coming up, the clarity just before and just after something truly epic crystallized eternally. The quiet before, and after the storm. These works are meant to lead the viewer on a cultivated, ocular journey to places you’ve never been – and the excitement and inception of the unknown. It’s these moments when truly anything can happen.
Color, light and playfulness can be seen throughout both artists’ works – all deeply rooted in the concept of form and movement. The idea of controlled chaos is one that Fydryck began experimenting with in the late 60’s (when these works were created), and a theme that is equally present in Ben’s contemporary paintings today.
The exhibition will run May 21 – July 10, 2016.
