Gallery Talk with Einat Amir and Scott J Hunter
@ Aspect/Ratio
119 N Peoria Street #3D
Opening Saturday, April 30th, from 12PM - 1PM
On view through Saturday, April 30th
Aspect/Ratio is pleased to host a gallery talk between artist Einat Amir and neuropsychologist Scott J Hunter. Einat Amir’s new project is inspired by contemporary researches in the field of social psychology which examine mechanisms of humanization and dehumanization through group experiments and personal interviews. The project will combine art and social science in a way where the research results become material for art, and art becomes the material for a new research.
Einat Amir is deeply interested in contemporary socio–political issues with psychoanalytic leanings through works that oscillate between video and performance. Her work is included in esteemed collections such as The Israel Museum and she has exhibited internationally at venues including: PERFORMA09, Petach Tikva Museum, Palais de Tokyo and PS 1 MoMA.
Scott J Hunter is a collector and curator of contemporary works, who most often focuses on examinations of the interpersonal and relational, specifically in the engagements that occur between the artist and the viewer through the created object. He is a professor of pediatric neuropsychology at the University of Chicago.
